FAQ

What exactly is an assessment?

Being assessed for selection or development is actually a very straightforward process. You will complete a number of instruments to help us objectively measure your job-related skills, characteristics, traits, abilities and knowledge. Many instruments don't have right or wrong answers – they simply measure your preferences or opinions. Other tools such as Aptitude tests do have a "right" answer, but there is nothing you can do to prepare. Simply do your best – you will know it or not.

What should I wear?

We have no expectation or requirement. Most candidates are dressed at least in business casual attire. Some come more formal. The choice is yours – it is not a factor in our professional assessment.

How long will it take?

If you are coming to our office without having done any online assessments in advance, you can expect the process to take between three and five hours. Total time will depend upon the speed in which you progress, and whether you will be meeting with Dr. Valutis for an interview. If time is a concern, let us know in advance and we will try our best to accommodate your scheduling needs. The online assessment tends to take a little less time overall. Some may be asked to complete one or two instruments on line before you come to our office. For these individual, your time with us will probably only be about 60 or 90 minutes.

Do I need to bring food or water?

We have coffee, water, tea or soda in our office. If you have a particular beverage or snack you prefer, feel free to bring it with you. We also have small snacks to ease any hunger.

Where do I go?

Our office is located at 5350 Main Street in Williamsville NY. It is only 5 miles from the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport (Airport Taxi: 716.633.8294), and only one mile from the Main Street East exit (7B) off I-290. Click here for directions.

What if my password doesn't work?

We find that, 98% of the time, passwords are accurate. Check to ensure you are typing the password you were given exactly as it appears (i.e. caps/lowercase, numbers). If you are still having trouble, contact Valutis.

What if I can't find the website?

If you can't find the assessment website, make sure you are typing in the correct information, or clicking on the correct link that was emailed to you. We find that using browsers that are java compatible, such as Internet Explorer, works best for these assessments. You may also check your junk mail box in case the web link was rejected as spam.

I started an online test, but I don't have time to finish it. What should I do?

You will be able to save your current progress, unless it is a timed test. When you log in, each assessment will include instructions for saving your information and returning to the assessment.

Will I get to see my results?

The quick answer is – probably not. The longer answer is – the hiring organization owns the results (this is explained in the consent form you will sign). If the organization provides written consent, we can provide results to you. A vast majority of our clients, however, choose to provide feedback only to candidates who are eventually hired. For those who are not hired, the results are likely filed away with any other reference or interview data, and are kept with their records.

How long before the organization gets my results?

We strive to provide a verbal summary of your results within 1 or 2 business days. A written summary report is generated and delivered in about a week.

Who has access to my results?

The hiring organization owns your results and therefore controls all storage and access. Typically the organization will include the hiring manager and a HR professional in the feedback process. Each organization is responsible for keeping your written report, but the methods they use to do so vary. We have a copy of your master file in our offices. No other organization has access to your results without your written permission (and the original hiring organization).

What if the question I have is not addressed here?

Please do not hesitate to contact our office with additional questions. We will happily address any concern or accommodations you may need.

How can I provide feedback on your assessment process?

We welcome any feedback you are willing to provide. Our intent is to make this a positive and pain-free process! We welcome the chance to talk with you directly (call 716 634-2553) or you can send an email to chip@valutisconsulting.com. Thank you in advance for helping our efforts for continual improvement!

This is an impressive selection tool, how can I use it for my current organization?

For starters, click on the link to our web page and you can learn about the process from a general sense. After that, contact our office so we can better understand your organization and the needs you have. We like to customize the test battery to the roles you are trying to fill. The better we understand your situation, the better we can do this. We would love a chance to earn your business!
