Overview
Effective teamwork is critical to successful organizations today. However, decision making and problem solving can be particularly difficult in team situations. Whether it's a top-level team setting the strategic focus for an organization or a mid-level team doing its best to produce quality results in a timely manner, strong team skills are an essential part of an organization's success.
Our team building programs assess the extent to which intact teams possess and exhibit the critical team skills of commu-nication, feedback and criticism, goal setting, effective meetings, conflict resolution, coordination and account-ability. Using the team's self-assessment as a baseline, the program helps team members set goals and create action plans designed to improve their overall perfor-mance. During the program, we highlight and confront disruptive patterns and dynamics that reduce the overall effectiveness of the team.
How it Works
Our team building program is a powerful event in any team's development. To properly position the team for a productive seminar, we conduct one-on-one, pre-seminar screening interviews. This allows our psychologists to assess the team's strengths and weaknesses before the seminar, thus using the seminar to enhance team effectiveness. After positioning the seminar and prior to the session, team members complete specially designed prework. This helps the team focus on its strengths and limitations, and prepare for change.
The team building seminar can last between one and three days, depending on the needs of the organization. The seminar is held off site to limit inter-ruptions and keep the team focused. After the seminar, a summary report can be prepared. We work with the team leader to ensure lasting change and continued improvement.
