Selecting a successor and transferring power is the final challenge for business founders and/or current generation leaders. This already difficult task is further complicated when a potential successor is under-prepared for the challenges of leadership.
Building the necessary skills to run a business is a long-term process. Waiting until the final six months invites hardship and failure. Efforts must begin years before the baton is to be passed to increase the likelihood of success.
Valutis Consulting provides a Successor Development Program to prepare the next generation of leaders. Our program helps ensure that successors are ready and able to carry on the legacy.ness of the team.
How it Works
Identified or potential successors participate in an extensive evaluation process involving interviews and testing. In addition, meetings with the incumbent leader help the psycholo-gists target areas most in need of development.
Based on these findings, a customized Personal Development Book (PDB) is created. The PDB provides action plans and developmental objectives in over fourteen different categories, ranging from Quantitative Abilities to Leadership and Selling Skills. The PDB serves as a personal consultant to the successor and lists enough developmental activities to last three years.
Successors are assigned a mentor to aid their efforts and to ensure that consistent progress is maintained.
