Overview
Interviews are used more than any other method in selecting new employees. The strength and accuracy of selection interviews, however, rely on how job relevant and differentiating the interview actually is. When done well, an interview can provide a wealth of valid, accurate information that allows you to make rational hiring decisions. When done poorly, an interview can be misleading, irrelevant, and illegal.
Unfortunately, many organizations donít develop good, sound interviews and their managers may lack the proper training and background necessary to conduct them. Structured interviews and interviewer training are two tools businesses can use to make the most of their selection interviews.
How it Works
A structured interview is merely a set of specific, job-relevant questions that tap into critical aspects of the job. The questions are based upon an analysis of the job and the qualifications desired in successful candidates. Key characteristics, skills, and abilities are identified and structured interview questions are then written to address these areas. The responses to the questions can then be evaluated and scored using a specially designed rating scale. We design our structured interviews to complement the rest of your selection program and to assess not only fit to the job, but fit to the organization as well.
Our interviewer training program is a one-day workshop covering the legal issues interviewers need to know, along with practical skills and methods such as:
This program can be modified to your organizationís own needs.
