Overview
360° Feedback refers to a process in which managers or executives receive structured feedback from the people with whom they work: their boss(es), subordinates and peers. The executive also participates, resulting in a 360° feedback loop in which their views can be compared to those around them.
360° Feedback has been well received and is responsible for positive changes among many top leaders and managers. The fundamental purpose of 360° Feedback is to determine an executive's strong and weak points in key areas, as perceived by others. It can be an enlightening experience; results are often eye opening and compelling.
How it Works
To begin, we meet with you to discuss the purpose of the program, your needs, who will participate in the program and the logistics. Then one of two core surveys (executive or manager) is used as a solid basis upon which to customize and fine-tune your own survey. Once the survey is ready, we plan the administration. The executive or manager describes the program to the participants to and request their participation. We assist in positioning the process and ensuring that anonymity is maintained. Participants usually include the executive and one or more of the following: their boss, peers and subordinates.
Once the surveys are administered, they are mailed directly to our offices where the data are carefully entered and analyzed. We graphically present the results of the survey, showing how each group of participants perceives the executive on key dimensions such as Leadership, Strategic Direction, Communication and Performance Management. As an added value, we administer a valid and reliable work personality measure to get an objective assessment of the executiveÌs work characteristics and leadership style. This adds to the comprehensiveness of the program and allows us to explain the dynamics of his or her results more fully.
The results are neatly packaged in the form of a booklet for the executive. We meet with the executive to go over the results and develop an action plan for their development. We also coach them on how to approach the participants and address areas of their concern, as well as to thank them for their participation.
